Today’s article is encouraged by two things that happened to me. One is this article (part of it is quoted below) and another one is that I have sent text message again to head of Emirates Human Resources department Mr.Abdulaziz regarding my “end of service” benefit (no answer yet).
I must admit: my experience with Emirates has led me (and it’s still leading me) through various emotional states. From disappointment (which happened first), through surprise via being hurt and angry to, finally, peace of my mind. This peace is not definite, though. It is often interrupted with my memories from EK and old emotions haunting me.
Today I am disappointed again. What was I expecting? First of all, I was expecting at least one decent manager ready to fulfil their legal obligations towards an employee. I was expecting some awareness about deep division between management and other company’s employees who are doing almost all the work. I would never have a heart to be a manager who doesn’t care. This is why I am not one. Capitalistic system doesn’t need people who care, who are aware of other people’s misery and all the unfairness happening in the world. I feel my responsibility whenever I do or don’t do something. And there are many people like me. It’s just that they are ignored, bullied and silenced in this mess of the place we are living in. Emirates Illuminati are among these people.
CAPITALISM’S BI-POLAR NATURE
http://www.collective-evolution.com/2014/12/16/the-future-of-capitalism/
One of the three core elements of capitalism is competition. Capitalism is a limited bi-polar construct in that it requires a loser for every winner. This is the true trickle-down effect as a large portion of the working class struggles for basic housing and to put food on the table, aided and abetted by the watering down of capitalism as we outsource labor to non-capitalistic countries, becoming complicit in human rights violations by those willing to turn a blind eye.
Too many people, even in this country, are struggling for access to basic shelter, food, water, healthcare and higher education. Competition has wrought enough damage to each other and the planet, creating parasitic-type conditions.
World peace will forever remain elusive as long as we battle to secure our own survival, blind to the realization that our neighbor’s well-being is vital to our own. As a species, we are interconnected and inseparable from each other and from our ecosystem. The greater truth that no mainstream economist has dared state publicly is that capitalism is not sustainable.
Instead of debating outdated economics, let us come together to forge a new path—one that is practical and truly provides equal opportunity for all, even those desiring to live a simple life. Capitalism served us well, but it’s become evident that working together cooperatively rather than in competition is the foundation for a new economy and peaceful world.
I like Islamic religion. I like basic postulates it preaches. I consider them deeply humane and love driven. Especially the ones which teach about helping less fortunate people and sharing with others.
When Edgar was called for a meeting with one local manager regarding his position at the airport, he was told by that manager that I am telling only lies on this blog. If I am sure that manager was lying I would never mention this fact, it’s just that I am not so sure that manager was lying about his opinion of my blog. It is very possible that he actually has the impression that I am writing lies here because he is living in a different reality where he likes to believe that his employees are happy.
Mr. Mohammed Mattar (Senior Vice President Airport Services) told me the same thing: “When I go around the airport I see happy people.” I looked at his eyes then and I still think that he was sincere. He really does think that his staff is satisfied. He has particularly one opinion common with his countryman HR Manager Maktoom: people should have enough money to survive and if they manage to survive they are happy. But what if I tell them that after my first blog post I got many messages and many of them were from local check in agents and supervisors? That I’ve got a support from local people? Isn’t it paradoxical and ironical that one (former) expatriate has to fight for your own people’s well-being, dear local managers?
There is not much I can do and say that will change abusive new world order. Luckily, that order is currently falling apart because it was never sustainable. People made the system and people will take it down. Not primarily because some of them are aware and humane, but because something that abuses people to the extent that it creates 99% of exploited population and 1% of extremely rich and privileged people is doomed to fall down or end up in extinction of human race.
Emirates is a huge and relatively independent company and it has the strength to impose its own rules and ways of doing business in the market. It is such a shame that it became an instrument of evil rather than instrument of sustainable living. Future of world’s economic system lies in sustainable business because of the simple fact that there is no production without natural and human resources preservation and these resources are brutally wasted now.
People always don’t have time. They are always in the rush for (more and more) money. They want everything here and now. This is why sustainable business is still at a concept level. It was never truly implemented. You can hear managers and campaigns talking about corporate social responsibility and sustainability, but almost all of that talk is about marketing and making more profit by appearing that they care, by misapplying the concept.
Another unfortunate fact is that sustainable business sometimes requires more than one life time to start bringing benefits. People are in a hurry to enjoy their money here and now. And I can understand that urge in expatriate managers but I am really concerned that local managers don’t see that their own company is preparing the ground for its own disappearance. Moreover, the company which could ensure the future and economic stability of UAE is, actually, exploiting its own people and resources for money which is not eternal per se.
So, when employees who are thinking about sustainability raise their voices, everyone should listen to them. By speaking of their own benefits, they are advocating everyone’s benefits actually, dear managers. Including yours. This is why it is very disappointing that Emirates Illuminati website is blocked in UAE. Members of this secret society have sent symbolic warning letters to managers in the Headquarters. Instead of acknowledging civilized criticism, managers decided to ban them. It’s not even incompetent. It’s a childish and immature move.
In the quotation below you can find categories of websites banned in UAE. Emirates Illuminati website doesn’t fall under any of mentioned categories. So why are they blocked? Because one company, which falsely advertises itself as modern and democratic, is treating its employees as replaceable and overpaid half slaves (you have the freedom to choose whether you will work for them but you don’t have the choice to speak up and ask for humane working conditions).
The biggest disgrace are western managers who could never do in their home countries what they are doing in UAE. Instead of showing to locals and the whole world how business can be done in an ethical and sustainable way, these managers exploit and ban even their own countrymen (!). This is how selfish little people build the future. And this blog is here to keep the memory of their “good” work.
I will republish news from Emirates Illuminati webpage here. You can also find “Emirates illuminati” page (and mentioned warning letters to managers) on this blog. I don’t know who they are but I sympathize with their emotions and goals and I support their non violent, intelligent and witty way of expressing discontent with greediness of managers and maltreatment of employees.
I will also insist on what belongs to me – my End of Service benefit.

You only see the empty half of the glass.
You never mentioned what is good about Emirates toward its people which is soooo many things to count.
I joined 2009 and started with almost 4k salary in EKAS in a year time i got grade 5 and a year later i transferd to crew..by now in just 5 years i am a purser i do earn in between19-22k depend on how much i fly a month..
I got a 400 k dirham loan from a bank and started my own luxury hair cut salon back home in my country and one here in Dubai..
the one in Dubai makes me a minimum of 12k net revenue a month with me doing nothing and now starting another one in BARCA near by emirates mall managed to settle my loan in 3 years only and i am anticpating a 18-20 k revenu from my next shop
By end of 2015 i would be earning aproximtly 30 k in a strange country that which i could not do in my COUNTRY..Many others they invest thier money diffrently i know lots of Ek staff bought Apartments and villas in Dubai, started lanudry, grocerry and so many other things.
its all up to you how you run your life..
You may have had a bad experiance but it does not mean all Ek managers are the way you describe them to be!! “EKAS IS THE WORST FOR SURE”
In 6 diffrent levels in this company i had 4 diffrent managers, diffrent nationalities and i was lucky to have thier support at all times”little less from Rami EKAS”..I had no Wasta,No connection no refernces and i am not “EU citizen” even
I got every thing because i earned it with hard work, dedecation, positive attitude and planning my next step.
people tend to blame others for thier failure..I do not know why!!?? I shared my story of “succes”in EK and In the UAE just to let you know that its you to choose your path not the circumstances..
EK-UAE work oportunites did support and still suuporting thousendes of families around the world its all up to YOU to take advantage and make your story a success or you give up and join others by only spreading negative energy by whining and complaining only with out even trying to set things right.
so far i was treated with full respect by the company as well as the govermental offices here in dubai.specially getting licens for my own business, I had a fair treatment most of the times “please do not bring me tha arabic language allowence as an example coz i respect the fact that its thier country and they have more rights then i do..just like we have more rights in ours..
there are short falls every were you go like ALQUAZ Accomodation as an example byt “a year later you get to leave out”. ,Life is not perfect but you will alwayes need to evaluate the situation and see if positive facts are more then negative once then am sure you can try it out and make something out of it..
the way i see your story Dragana is that you are super professional and well well educated,,The way you write is amazing but you are living in the world of Aflatoon perfection perhapse..
Do not allowe this to ruin your life/career/future as you will encounter bad/good managers in every single place you work on earth.cop with it and turn it arround by doing your job and surly even bad people appriciate hard work.
am not saying ingnore principles but be flixable.
I do not agree your point about EK sustainabiltey.I respect the fact of your HR master study wich surly very valiuable but theory is diffrent from reality It is a long topic that cant be discussed this way but one day will get to meet in person ,Talk facts after isolating your emotional strees and will see who is right and who is wrong.
every thing in this world is connected Economy,Politics, social life and religion..And Ek is no exeption and that is why Ek will last on top as long as Dubai is on top.
I would want to spend more time reading and writing in here and face you with facts that may change your mind but my time is short to do such activites..
I am not an EK manager that is trying to defend it am just sharing my ideas..
And i am a person that stands for the company that indeed did me every possible good

Hahaha Maybe next time, when you do find time, you should write something that sounds less like an advertisement and more like a real story.
But I am really grateful for these occasional advertisement comments which almost never answer the most important questions from my articles and they all sound alike. It must be that you continue to underestimate intelligence of EK employees and my readers. Please, do continue to write here.
P.S
I’ve just checked your IP. You are the same person who attacked Edgar by saying that Emirates is not a charity, aren’t you? Didn’t you say you worked in INAD office? 🙂 That’s quite a career you’ve had in EK.:)
Btw, grade 4 can’t take loans, salaries are too small, banks refuse them unless they live outside Al Quoz.
Thank you for your comments they mean a lot for proving my points here.

Wow. The Managers are trying a new track with us idiots. Thank you for that. You love showing your superior intelligence in all matters. Please forgive me but allow me to point out a few things.
1.) I fully intend to check out your story to see if you really exist. A high-flyer (pun intended) like you will be easy to check out. I won’t publish your name. Don’t worry. I still have many friends in EK, sadly getting fewer and fewer as they are fed up and leave for many of the reasons Dragana has stated. Your overall package is around 22,000 with accommodation allowance if you live out. Otherwise your salary is around 15,000.
2.) Please publish the name of your Salon? That way EK can be aware and sack you as you are not allowed to work for any other entity as you are employed full time by them. If you have borrowed money, then it’s your business accumen not EK that has succeeded. If you don’t publish the name then does it mean you are scared of retribution by EK? Like Dragana has discussed? Your standard of English is rather poor for a Purser. Or are you trying to hide your identity?
3.) if you are following the local law, you must be paying 51% to your hard working local sponsor for the Salon or are you not paying that much? If so, then you are illegal. Again.
Please don’t assume all the readers here are semi-literate or stupid. May be I am, but I guess a few are not. I am sure many of us will look forward to your intelligent and well constructed reply.

Oh Dear! I have just read your comment, Dragana. I wonder if EK are giving Najms for stupidity. I guess, if we were still there, we could nominate this person for an award. Priceless.
Some points:
1.) Why is this person trolling and is their manager aware?
2.) They must be feeling very scared of the (I have no doubt) upcoming court case with Edgar.
3.) Look at the blatant lies!!
4.) People looking for work and considering EK/Dnata as an employer would be well advised to read this blog carefully and consider why you have done this and why you are being attacked by the trolls.
Thanks for publishing everything here.

Quick answer: 3 times on ID90 (one of them was a two-day non vacation related trip to Vienna) in year and a half and one with Etihad to travel home (another one to escape from Dubai). All three times I had do starve till next salary because trips were too expensive for my budget. And since ticket price is deducted from the next salary I actually had to starve for two months. Do you want to say that 3500 aed is not an embarrassingly low salary for such a successuful company and all the work that staff is doing? Or that employees should be hungry for the rest of the two months period if they travel?

Dragana. Please don’t forget to mention that they were in economy class, standby, and you were only given one hours’ notice to get on. And that you paid by salary deduction. Still our trolls don’t answer. The questions show their desperation. Funnily enough our trolls are happy to tell you how lucky you are to get such a great salary coming from Serbia. They don’t comment on what EK charges to fly from less affluent countries. They don’t comment about EK not reducing the fuel surcharge inspite of oil dropping!! Keep Trolling. You are really damaging EK by your management planted questions. I, along with many hundreds of people who suffered at the hands of EK managers that would never behave that way in Europe, look forward to seeing you join the Terrible Three on the scrapheap in the not too distant future. Happy Christmas!!

700 euros (3500 aed) is a minimum salary for educated people in Serbia. So 700 euros is a below minimum salary for Dubai. And quite embarrassing for Emirates.
Yes, those were all standby tickets (it means that you get a seat only if available seats on board and no payload restrictions; since flights are usually overbooked and restricted, trips are always nerve breaking experience as you can stay stuck abroad or buy a full fare ticket to travel back to Dubai).
Those tickets benefits that managers think they can sell as a part of package are simply not working, especially for lower grade staff who don’t have money to use them.

A Indian film. Wow you are funny. The drama in Indian films (I am a fan of the classics like Sholay with Amitabh Bachan, Hema Malini etc.) is a method that many Indians use to escape their day to day reality as it is so awful. I am amazed you have the time to come and read with all the things going on in your life…. A hair salon in India that makes 20,000 AED per month!!, another in Barsha, yet another somewhere else in Dubai, Flying as a Purser with all the SEP requirements, writing reports on your “crew,” VRs, fatigue, slandering Edgar, running the INAD office, looking after your staff across all these salons etc. Please advise us idiots on how you time manage? You are indeed a star. Thank you for sharing these Pearls of Wisdom with us? May I recommend the Indian film PK with Amir Khan between haircuts and chocks off? It seems to be right up your street. Keep Trolling. With enlightened contributors like you, it makes the job of those that want to show EK as it is, sooooo much more easier and enjoyable. Thanks for the Xmas present!

Hi Dragana, I finally managed to check out our friend from INAD. She is a supervisor there. There are two in the office, and I promised not to name names. I won’t for her sake. Not even a manager. LOL. She is certainly no purser. She certainly is a liar and a poor one at that. And a bully. Seems she has taken the initiative to try to show how loyal she is to EK, but, as her limited intellect shows, can’t write a structured argument. Seems that they received an email from Mr. Conway who is the Big Chief of the Airport basically telling them to shut up. I have a copy that I will send to you with my response to him.

Absolutely LOVE this thread! Nice one Dragana and EXEGHQ. As for Anonymous, think I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again, your screen name says it all really. Hiding behind the word “Anonymous” just shows how terrified you really are of voicing your opinions. And I also wondered when reading your long post at top of this thread why and how you were running businesses as well as flying?! That’s breaking the rules but hey, if you’re a Purser like you claim you are, breaking the rules is second nature, right 😉 And judging by your pathetic writing, I can’t possibly imagine how awful the writing is in your much loved Flight Reviews at the end of each flight, were you get your chance to slate and report as many crew members as possible.
I’m sure there are some people who have “success” stories in EK but the only one I’ve found so far is yours (which isn’t too convincing, may I add) so where are these people? What I noticed when I worked there was, the people who deemed themselves as “successful” happened to be the ones behind the bulling, scaremongering and brainwashing mentality which EK seem to be so proud of. That doesn’t sound “successful” to me, because if you (or any others in a Managerial position) think that it’s perfectly OK to threaten or punish your crew for minimal or no mistakes, then that makes YOU a really sad and insecure person. The only way you can make yourself feel successful is by knocking others down and you sound exactly like that type, Anonymous.

And by the way, I come under the screen name “Jade” but for some reason I’ve popped up on the system as the dreaded “Anonymous”

Sorry my friend, I am being inundted with information from so many people. They are desperate to see all the gangsters, thugs and trolls named and shamed. They will be. Thank you to all of you for your comments. Especially Miss INAD Office.

There are several people who named you over the last few days Miss INAD Office. I wish you were not such a vile person. But hey, if you want to carry on please do so. To her credit, Dragana posts everything. The truth will set you free (John 8:32)

You will see a few names on our website who, in our considered opinion, deserve to be shamed.

Hello, Tagha. No, it doesn’t have to be in a private e-mail. Names of many managers are published here and naming them is one of the goals of this website.
On the other hand, it’s never justified or ethical to accuse someone (and publish their name) without a 100% proof. So, good thing that EXEGHQ didn’t publish her name, only the fact that she already told us: that she worked in INAD office.
