Goodbye Anoma Manuel, you will not be missed

For those who don’t follow this blog from the beginning, everything has begun with now former Divisional Vice President Anoma Manuel and her ruthless behaviour towards Airport Services employees and myself, recorded on tape.

I felt harassed by her and I even filed a complaint to HR Manager Sophia Panayiotou. Sophia never responded to this complaint but she was fired by Emirates soon after my blog post about her, along with several other managers.

This time, Anoma Manuel “is leaving” the company. I will not speculate if she was “forced to resign” (a popular term in Emirates) or she resigned for some other reason as I don’t care. The damage to the employees and the company is already done. And  although I have a huge respect towards women who manage to succeed in a men’s world, I don’t have any respect for Anoma Manuel. She was insensitive and incompetent manager who has offended and bullied many people, who ruled by fear and who violated many policies of the company she worked for.

Goodbye Anoma Manuel. You will not be missed.

All that matters at the end of your life is not the money, but the number of people you’ve made happy and the number of people you’ve made miserable. If the second number is larger than the first one, then you’ve wasted your life.

If Emirates or any of the managers have destroyed your career, treated you badly, done some unethical thing against you, Are you willing to forgive and move on with life? If you dont then you also are wasting your life, like Emirates. Forgive Man! Move on dont waste your time writing your frustrations on this blog…Remember if emirates does not treat you well, they still havent learnt how to manage staff well..so they have nt got even the basic fundermentals in people management. So move on! Sorry Emirates you don’t deserve me…I forgive you. But some other company well deserves me. Leaving with a good heart to make another good start

Dragana: with all the writing on this blog has this ever changed Emirates as a Organisation? Have they looked at this blog as an instrument of change, a feedback board…???

You have to ask Emirates for that. Although, they got rid of most of the managers I have ever mentioned on this blog.

This blog has made a huge revolution on how things were/are going and for sure this would never have happened without a courage from the writer as she felt the pain for a very silly thing that EK managers managed to deprive. Lot have tasted more but they kept silent and managers took it as a green light to continue with their injustice and oppression! Rules and regulations that protect me and protect all the staff are kept in the books and never applied…there is no job security anymore and the worst part, managers can reach decision makers and convince them of wrong fabricated stories and at the end, we pay the price without a single question!

Yes…this blog made a huge revolution and made a comprehensive change to be able to work in a healthy environment and away from them and I hope this would continue to reach every unfair manager. .

This blog just informed people. Everything that is happening in Emirates is the product of their greed, incompetency and lack of vision. Anoma worked in EK for 30 years, In the meantime, she got rich, made a lot of money and completely ruined Airport Services and customer service. EK managed to lose all the best people and kept all the parasites. Of course they lost all of their previous glory and of course they are not going to exist 20 years from now. Entropy is a strong force to resist, especially when you have psychopatic fools for managers.

Still there are few good managers but actually, they are helpless in a sense that they fear from supporting or even SAYING the “truth”, they see the wrong things but can’t act with the authority and power they have that’s why they are like “Dumb Devils”!!

They won’t as long as they have good positions, salaries, F&J TKTs, bonuses…etc so, would they forget all about these benefits just to say the truth!!! If there was a “job security” maybe they would but they know that they would be kicked out if they opened their mouths!! so, they preferred to join the “Dumb Devils” club.

Not necsrilly have all of dem been fired because of you but yes thanks to this blog some changes have happnd in ek which never would have happnd. Good riddence anoma. It seems she left on her will hnce 3 months. But recntly they fired brendon noonan another infamous svp in hr who used power to do what he wantd. His arrogance cam to bite him in form of karma. So good riddance t brendon n as well. What staff in ek is waiting for is the results if the survey they took has been more than a year and still no results. Most likely it was embrassing to see how demotivatd staff are

Having taught a huge number of the locals at university in the UAE, I would say that losing all of the expat managers is a very dangerous thing. The locals in charge will ensure that all standards drop, in the pursuit of profit and glory, and when that happens then EK will start to be very unsafe to fly.

Just look at yesterday’s FlyDubai crash. I wonder what that was all about? Tired pilots? Lack of training?

It’s their country and they can do whatever they want with it. On the other hand, they can bring some good managers to work with them. Gathering only psychophats brings the same result as having no skilled and honest managers at all.

Locals are as bad as the British. I will name you the worst ones. Ali mubarak soory. His lazy daughter Manal. Abdul aziz al Ali. Adal al ridha who is really vicious and nasty. The British and uae nationals together with the Indian mafia are destroying the company.

I totally disagree, I had an experience with Mr Abdulaziz Al Ali and he is down to earth fair and square. We haven’t met each other but a dear friend had brought my story to his attention and he insisted to hear my part from me as what he have heard was completely different, he left his contacts and urged me to call him as I was in a different country. Anyways, he returned part of my rights which I was deprived from by EKAS HR Manager Mr Ashley as he sent him an email to expedite sending my funds to continue my brain operations and my treatment however, Ashley didn’t like that as he sent them within a month time (just to see what kind of inhuman managers EK has)!!.

Locals are very fair and honest people but, you have to know how to approach them if you escape from their office staff and managers who work hard to misuse their given authorities by bullying and changing facts.

Mr Al Ali is responsible for more than 30 thousands staff in the company and for sure he depends on his managers to support him in doing the right thing but when his managers are manipulating and bullying, don’t expect things would go in the right direction..would you!!

Actually, I am sure that there are people who think all the best about Anoma Manuel. But, being full of love and care for your family and friends and being rude and cruel to the rest of the world, especially to the ones who you are responsible for on your place of work, just because you have an ambition to be rich and to “be somebody” is not an accomplishment.

she continued the same working style outstation.. however they have unions there.
but lately she missed up in USA which is controlled by ACAA and had several violation of act 382 which costed emirates a fortune and disregarding how much EK protects her, they couldn’t keep her in the picture anymore so they had to let her go.
and i’ve heard some rumors about her getting the position of minister of tourism in srilanka

Anoma Manuel is an incompetent clown who has no clue of the existence of labour and human rights. She has no brains as well. To go outstations and to violate workers’ rights is just plain stupid. Than again, she never seemed like an intelligent person. Lucky for her, nobody sued her, but judging by her stupidity, she will end up in prison some day in her own country.

I will never understand why big companies employ incompetent and stupid bullies on important positions. Yes, they obey everything and everyone and yes – they are perfect rats and spies, but only in a short period of time. In a long period of time they make so much reputational and material damage that it’s enigma to me why they even got further than one of the lowest grades in companies.

I have warned EK about Anoma long time ago. EK hated me and their lawyers called me by rude names when instead they should have consulted me about preventing what is happening today in regards of their fast descent.

I was fair and told them in one e-mail that I will go in public. They’ve disregarded that e-mail. Now, everything that I have warned them about is happening to them. And I am not happy about that. I am sad that people got hurt and killed.

EK has never compromised safety. So that is not a question. Well you can drive a car and be hit for no fault of yours. That is life. When you speak of locals, they are some of the best people. Very humane and straightforward. They don’t have hidden agendas. With regard to Anoma, Karma has got her so don’t pass judgement. What goes around comes around.

I am not so sure about EK not compromising the safety of their flights. Their pilots have a completely different story and they are the ones flying the planes after all: http://www.pprune.org/middle-east-44/

Arabs say : others problems are good for us.
after the tragic accident of FZ, and everyone is speculating the reason as a pilot error , EK have adjusted their laws of minimum rest for pilots and limited the new-generation-pilots control while takeoff or landing in order to minimize the risk of a pilot error.
unfortunately, cabin crew were not included in this improvement …so far (hopefully)

Banana Air has never compromised safety? BA HA HA. You clearly have no idea what goes on. I have seen exhausted crew sleeping on their jump seats, I’ve seen seniors turn blind eyes at all kinds of things. Why? Half the time because of exhaustion, half the time because the company doesn’t support us and it’s easier to let a passenger get away with something than to fight with them and get a compliant and taken into HQ on your day off. Lets focus on the root of such problems, HQ, rostering and management basically. I’ll never forget the time I went into the briefing and they had rostered 4 pilots onto a turnaround where there ‘may’ be fog at the destination. What about the extra crew?! In fact we only had 6 crew because of the light load outbound (almost full on return though!). We were greeted by a 5 hour delay on the ground outstation due to fog (no surprise). Not a single shit was given about safety that day. But we were legal and “safe” to return even though crew were hysterical with exhaustion. And what about this one, why do we stay by the doors when we land until they disarmed, but when we have a delay prior to departure we have to do trays of drinks? Yes that was 5 hours of teas and drinks for our lovely passengers before we even departed. All I wanted to do was sit with the manual for my SEP the following day but of course, that’s not safe is it? But Chai? Yes, let’s make chai and cry… then die. Another contradiciton in Banana air.

EK compromise safety on a daily basis forcing fatigue and sick crew to operate flights. Take a look on the BBC and RT and pprune. I can assure you that locals are no different to any other country. There is good and bad everywhere. Why can’t we pass judgement on Anoma when you pass judgement on EK and Locals. Another Brit manager trying to score brownie points, me thinks.

Dragana, I haven’t always agreed with what you have written but you do deserve acknowledgement for having attracted a lot of attention at the highest levels in Emirates HQ. There are serious ‘business culture’ issues within the company, perhaps a consequence of fast growth, but hopefully your blog will be a vehicle for change.

I always say I don’t have ill intentions. At the end of it all, they gonna thank people from this blog for helping their business last longer. The first step is to admit the mistake. If they really want to change something, be respected global company and a true life style brand, that is.

Fast growth has to do much with it, yes. That’s why they have to listen to their employees, not treat them like numbers and shit. They are the ones making the money and the brand, and that is the simple fact. You can’t always satisfy every employee, but you can make all of them feel respected and as part of the team, from time to time, protect them from the abuse of managers and clients. Many managers in big companies are just incompetent opportunists and very often – sadists. They’re, actually, the repleceable ones, not your honest and responsible lower grades workers.

And there is one more thing: this blog was really my last resource in my fight for justice. I tried everything (writing to my managers, going to Sheikh’s office several times, going to the Dubai ministry of labour, going to my Embassy to make them schedule me an appointment with Sheikh…) and I even told my managers that I will go to public. It’s not the masses who make the change. Just one person is needed. You, me or someone else, but just one. Always.

Your blog is recognized even by Huffington Post. That is quite a bit of an achievement for an individual blog.

    1) You bought their working culture to light
    2) US3 proved their accounting is shoddy
    3) pprune proved their crew practices are not safe

and few more TV-MA rated things like suicides and sex offerings…

Not sure other than hardworking employees any part of this enterprise is genuine.
